"The Turkish National Geodesy Commission Symposium" Was Held at Our University
Our university hosted the 22nd Turkey National Geodesy Commission (TUJK) Symposium, a collaborative effort with the General Directorate of Mapping, continuing a tradition since 2002.
Held at the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Cultural and Congress Center from November 29 to December 1, 2023, the symposium centered on "Contributions of Geodesy in Disasters and Disaster Management." Distinguished academics engaged in various sessions, delving deep into subjects like "Reference Coordinate Systems," "Gravity Field," "Geodynamics," and "Positioning and Applications" through 67 oral presentations across 7 sessions.
The symposium extensively addressed the global and local impact of natural disasters (earthquakes, hurricanes, avalanches, storms, tornadoes, etc.). It also explored geodesy's role in disaster research, human-made disasters resulting from excessive interaction with nature (forest fires, pandemics, technological accidents, water pollution, etc.), and the adverse effects on natural life. With a focus on minimizing losses from all types of disasters, the symposium presented valuable preventive measures and solutions.
Industry Participation
Public institutions, organizations, and companies actively participated in the symposium, showcasing their products through booths. The event, with both national and international participants, featured online presentations, specialized sessions, and a panel discussing the symposium's main theme.
The program facilitated significant scientific data exchange, drawing active participation from TUJK members, academics, representatives from the public and private sectors, and students. In summary, the TUJK Symposium at our university proved to be a thriving platform for insightful discussions, academic exchange, and the exploration of geodesy's crucial role in disaster management.
